TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Holy Prophet (PBUH) lived centuries ago but he still has so many devotees who are willing to sacrifice their lives for his sake.

Muhammad (PBUH) was apparently an ordinary person who spent his childhood and teenage years as well as his youth like thousands of other unfamed people of his time. He also lost his parents in early years of his life and became an orphan.

Where he lived was one of the worst cultural environments at that time and it was in a dark age when he was born. It was an age when there is no trace of knowledge, science and civilization.

He was appointed to prophethood in middle age but during the 13 years in Mecca, the disbelievers did not allow the manifestation of his thoughts and conduct to be known.

He and his companions were under a siege and fully boycotted. They also got close to martyrdom many times.

When the Prophet (PBUH) went to Medina, he found a magnificent social status there and the era of isolation ended, but very soon began the unfortunate phenomenon of Nifaq (hypocrisy) within the Islamic society and the aggression of enemies from outside.

The waging of 80 battle against the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the bitter incidents happening everyday caused either by friends or by enemies were so overwhelming that could destroy mountains, but he demonstrated unique character and steadfastness.

What is behind the love for the Prophet (PBUH) that is in the hearts of so many people centuries after his death? How, in such a short life, he managed to shine in the history of humanity and now his religion is the greatest in the world?

What did he do to the hearts of people that so many enthusiastically praise him in their daily prayers every day and lighten their hearts with his name?

God, the Al-mighty, knows how to raise the name of such an individual and spread the love for him throughout the world.

He said in verse 96 of Surah Maryam “Those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Merciful will assign for them love.”

God also promised the Holy Prophet to raise him to a prominent position: “As for the night there is a voluntary deed for you to keep vigil in part it. Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praiseworthy station.” (Surah Al-Isra, Verse 79).

“Have We not raised your remembrance?” (Surah Al-Inshirah, Verse 4)
